Messegiera, Orfeo

Monteverdi's incredible opera, often said to be the first ever opera as we know it was brought to life by Matthew Eberhardt's contemporary production with the stylistic musical direction of Oliver-John Ruthven.  In my debut for Hampstead Garden Opera I sang the role of Messegiera, also appearing in Act 2 as one of the "seductive torn-tighted Goth sirens surrounding Pluto" (Andrew Benson-Wilson, Early Music Review).

"Teresa Pells (playing the Messenger) delivered a dramatic and clearly articulated description of the scene of Eurydice’s tragic death". Dorothy Wilson for Bachtrack
